Often mistaken for “spiral” magnets, neodymium (ND) magnets are still an essential part of the modern electrical industry. They are quite different from your average, everyday magnets, because of their inner core: a strong, hollow, metallic outer shell surrounded internally by an extremely strong ferromagnetic material. Neodymium is used primarily in the production of high-quality magnetic materials, such as wire and connector clips. This special metal is also used extensively in dental products, because of its ability to retain its polarity even under extreme pressure, such as that encountered in the mouths of those who are difficult to reach.

The sacrificial anode changes the direction of the magnetic dipole moment, which results in the generation of a directional current.

Common uses of neodymium sphere magnets include flat circuit breakers, vehicle alternators, outdoor edgings, cell phones, car remotes, aircraft motors, medical instrumentation, and other electrical and mechanical devices. The material is extremely flexible for use in all these applications and has very low loss factors. The sphere is also safe to work with, which increases its usability. The material is a more reliable option than other conductors and has the potential to be used in a wider variety of applications, increasing its versatility and the applications it can be used in.
